Justin met Luke and his family in 2013 during batting practice when he was a member of the NY Mets. Luke was just 7 years old at the time and bravely battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He told Justin his motto was "losing is not an option" and that immediately stuck with Justin. He came back out and gifted Luke an autographed bat that he had enscribed with Luke's motto. From that moment on, an incredible friendship formed.
Since then, Justin has supported Luke and his family through his incredible fight. Luke was cleared by his doctors in 2014 to come to Los Angeles where he threw out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Dodgers game!
Justin and Kourtney are committed to supporting and enriching the lives of children battling life-altering illnesses and diseases. They don't want to just provide financial support, instead they want to be invested in their lives. They often visit children in the hospital or host them at Dodger Stadium. Over the 2018 holiday season, the Turners gave 25 kids and their families Parkhopper tickets, parking passes, and food vouchers for a day at Disneyland for when they're able to leave the hospital. Justin dreams of hosting a "Winter Wonderland" event for children unable to leave the hospital during the holidays
