Justin first learned of the Dream Center from his wife, Kourtney. She had participated in several outreach projects with her fellow Dodger wives, She could see why Clayton & Ellen were strong supporters of DC. She was blown away by the way in which they serve the Los Angeles community and immediately told Justin they needed to get involved further.
Located less than 2 miles from Dodger Stadium, the Dream Center is a charitable organization that finds and fills the needs of struggling people. There are many residential and outreach programs operating at all hours. Since 1995, thousands of individuals and families have found hope and healing through these programs. The Dream Center not only aims to meet immediatley needs of the community (food and clothing) but also focuses on the full successful transformation of people's lives.
DREAM CENTER MISSION: is to connect broken people to a community of support by offering free resources and services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of poverty, addiction, and abuse. The Dream Center serves as a resource center focused on finding solutions to homelessness, hunger, and the lack of education through residential and community outreach programs.
The Dream Center already had programs in place to help address vital needs such as homelessness, emancipated youth, human trafficking, and foster care intervention but there was a major need yet to be addressed. Veterans experiencing homelessness is a major issue in our country. These brave men and women have sacrificed so much and are often left with very little after their service is complete. The Dream Center came up with a program to offer a way for homeless veterans to transition into housing, employment and laying a firm foundation to move forward after their military service.
In 2015, The Dream Center approached Justin about their plan to open a Veterans Home and he was completely on board. Justin is a huge supporter of the United States Military and loved the idea of lifting up those who have given so much for us. The DC Veterans Program opened its' doors in November 2015 and was immediately filled to capacity. The program offers assistance as they make the difficult transition back into civilian life. Through provided housing, mentorship, counseling, and outreaches, these selfless individuals can find the foundation for their future.
Due to the overwhelming demand for veteran assistance for women in the Los Angeles community, the Dream Center opened their Women Veterans Program in May 2018. JTF is honored to help fund the program that will now be able to serve our brave female veterans as well. There are currently 1,882,848 women veterans in the United States. The program allows them to continue to pursue an education, obtain job & interview training, improve communication skills and help them transition back into civilian life. It is so important to lift up our veterans after they've given so much to our country and help get them back on their feet.
Justin and his wife Kourtney were proudly in attendance and partook in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the beautiful home on the Dream Center campus.
